Turning Challenges Into Purpose: My Conversation on Passion, Purpose, and Possibilities

Jul 29, 2025

Living with an invisible illness is something many people experience—but few talk about openly. I recently had the opportunity to share my story on the Passion, Purpose, and Possibilities podcast with host Candice Snyder. In this heartfelt conversation, we explored how living with Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SCDS) has shaped my journey—not as a limitation, but as a source of strength.

From immigrating as a young child to becoming a serial entrepreneur, community advocate, and founder of The Time is YA, my path has been filled with lessons on resilience, cultural pride, and redefining success. Living with SCDS has added a layer of complexity to my life—its symptoms can be disorienting and difficult—but it’s also pushed me to become more intentional, compassionate, and clear about my purpose.

In this episode, I talk about:

✨ Embracing disability as a part of my identity and a source of power

✨ The realities of SCDS—what it is, how it impacts me, and what others should know

✨ My evolution from young immigrant to changemaker and entrepreneur

✨ How I continue to lead, build, and inspire others while navigating chronic health challenges

✨ The impact of my book, Hispanics and Latinos in Vallejo, and why storytelling matters

If you're navigating your own invisible challenge or looking for motivation to keep pushing forward with your dreams—especially in business or leadership—this episode is for you.
